Helen Brown

Helen Brown's work explores methods of presentation and reception of artworks. She playfully investigates aspects of communication, perception and audience engagement. Previous work has explored the use of mass communications systems by galleries and institutions to present and communicate the gallery experience to their audiences. By taking these systems out of context she creates potential for miscommunication, initiating new readings.

Helen Brown’s work has been included in group shows 24hr Art, CCA Darwin, Australia; Global Studio, Bluecoat gallery, Liverpool; Meanwhile in Birmingham, Rogue Studios, Manchester and Radio IPS, International Project Space, Birmingham. Helen has recently had a solo exhibition in the Nitra Gallery, Slovakia and is developing a project for Narrative Show at Eastside Projects, Birmingham, taking place later in 2011.
