7 Artists x 7 Plates: Artists’ Food Trail at Grand Union

26 June 2015

We are delighted to host a one off evening of food and extra special delights at our gallery space and artists’ studios in Digbeth. This year we are celebrating our 5th birthday, and are opening up our building for one night only for people to enjoy an unforgettable dining experience.

Nomad chef Alex Claridge will curate the evening, working with Kitchen School and chef Chris Hughes (Fresh Catering & Kitchen School) to create a collaborative art and dining experience culminating in a trail of seven courses with seven artists through their creative working spaces.

Each Grand Union’s studio artists has worked closely with the chefs to create a small plate that reflects their art and working processes. Diners will be invited to each studio to eat their dish with the artist in a unique setting of the artist’s working space.

The result is a dinner of seven courses with wines matched to each course, with the opportunity to be see the behind-the-scenes activity of a gallery space and studios for one evening only; a fully immersive art and food experience.

Alex Claridge runs the enigmatic restaurant Nomad. His cooking is organic, nature-led – using primarily foraged and allotment produce, using contemporary cooking techniques in a highly original and creative way. His creative interpretation of his ingredients makes for a perfect collaboration with artists. His partnership with Chris Hughes, a hugely experienced chef, who enjoys bold and gutsy flavour combinations, compliments Alex perfectly to make this a culinary evening to remember.

Dinner will be served in 4 sittings over the evening from 7pm until 10.00pm. Diners will be asked to reserve their time slots. Aperitifs and Digestifs will be available in the gallery.
Tickets are available from Eventbrite at only £55 (£50 for early-bird bookers).
