Join us for the opening of ‘Gut Feelings 2.0′, a new exhibition from Kasra Jalilipour at Grand Union. Come along for either a relaxed opening moment or a celebratory drink after.
4–6pm – a more relaxed opening, a quieter time for people to enjoy the exhibition with less crowds and no bar. We ask people to wear a mask and not wear perfume for this time.
6–8pm – Full launch opening with pay bar, including a performance by Gisou Golshani as part of wider Digbeth First Friday event.
About the Artists
Kasra JalilipourOpen accordion
Kasra Jalilipour (b.1995, Esfahan) is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist, and writer, based in Derbyshire. They work in a variety of mediums including sculpture, works on paper, moving images and live performance. Through looking at histories and speculative fiction, their work takes on the role of recreating archival histories of queerness and transness, and at times they do this by looking at how religion intersects with these often unarchived histories.
Jalilipour’s solo shows include Haarlem Artspace, Wirksworth, 2024; Gasleak Mountain, Nottingham, 2024; Arcade-Campfa at BayArt, Cardiff, 2023; Academy of Fine Art Gallery, Prague, 2018. Their live directorial debut ‘Apocrypha of the Later Saints’ was commissioned by Centre for Live Art Yorkshire, Leeds, 2024.
Gisou GolshaniOpen accordion
Gisou Golshani is a London-based artist from Iran. She performs rituals of belonging and resistance through sound art, performance, and poetic chants. Her work explores fictioning, hauntology, and speculative world-building to reflect on issues related to land, liberation and collective healing.
Further details will be shared in the coming weeks. Pre-show information will be available in due course and will be updated with further information as the show is installed.
‘Gut Feelings 2.0’ will take place alongside an expanded public programme in Spring/Summer 2025 and is generously supported by Arts Council England Project Grant, Jerwood New Art Fund, and LEVEL Centre.
