Join us in Modern Clay this November Digbeth First Friday to celebrate the launch of Corridor 8’s most recent publication, ‘Barkle and Tranklements‘. Grand Union Studio Artist Joanne Masding will perform an edited version of her text ‘Building Fluff’, commissioned by Corridor 8 as part of ‘Barkle and Tranklements‘. ‘Building Fluff’ considers the actions and tasks involved in developing ideas and making artworks, and is activated in a live reading within the surroundings of Modern Clay ceramics studio, in which the text is partly set.
‘Barkle and Tranklements: Art Writing from the Midlands’ is the latest book from Corridor8. Through case studies and interviews, rituals and fictions, diagrammatic explorations and art-historical essays, ‘Barkle and Tranklements’ surveys the scenes, spaces and studios where art happens in the Midlands and explores the usefulness of considering regional identity in a contemporary art context.
There will be two performances, at 7pm and 7.30pm, each will last for approximately 12 minutes. Modern Clay will be open from 6 till 8pm, so stop by, meet the writers and the Corridor 8 team, and celebrate this wonderful new publication.
Corridor8 is a not-for-profit platform for contemporary visual arts and writing in the North and Midlands of England.
Please note that Modern Clay is located up one flight of stairs and there is no lift access. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss access requirements for this event by emailing info@grand-union.org.uk.
