Workshop: Letters to the Past with Kasra Jalilipour

19 July 202510.30am–12.30pm

Join us on Saturday 19 July for a writing workshop for Queer people. This event is part of the expanded programme of ‘Gut Feelings 2.0’, Grand Union’s current exhibition with Kasra Jalilipour. This event is designed as an invitation for those who identify as Queer, and people of colour are particularly encouraged to attend.

How would you attempt writing a letter to someone who will never read it?

In this writing workshop, led by Kasra, we will explore writing a letter to a person from the past; a person you may have deep affection for but have no access to, someone you may feel seen by, or even a historical crush.

Combining your own autobiographical details with historical research and fictional speculation, the use of imagery and other visual aids are welcome and encouraged.

This workshop draws directly from Jalilipour’s own creative practice, using writing methodologies that have contributed to the making of ‘Gut Feelings 2.0’.

Paper and pens will be provided, but please feel free to bring along alternative equipment to write with if you wish.

This event is part of the programme for 'Gut Feelings 2.0', Kasra Jalilipour's first large-scale solo exhibition/
